7.8.20 Mark Gebhards Top 5 Takeaways
1. IFB is working with the Department of Ag to create a required anhydrous ammonia training to be completed by anyone who handles the product. We hope to release this training in 2021.
2. IFB is also continuing/developing online pesticide training and licensing. There is a possibility of in person training at various locations around the state next year, but nothing is definitive at this time.
3. We are working with the Department of Ag and DCEO (Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity) to address the availability of assistance for livestock opportunities through the federal CARES act. IFB is hoping to finalize details soon.
4. A press conference was recently released stating our opposition of the proposed progressive tax that will be on the ballot in November. Our members have made it clear they do not support this tax and we will continue to send updates as we go.
5. We wanted to send a shoutout to FSA and all the work they have done with the CFAP program. They have done a great job of getting finances out the door and into producers’ hands to assist them in the recent pandemic.
